MTB for beginners

One of the best ways for a special day in the outdoors is to go for a mountain biking day. You can do it in any season provided there is no bad weather, even on snow.

This will be an easy ride but do not mistake us because we are not organizing walks in the parks. We want you to be tired at the end of the day, to still feel the saddle when you will throw yourself into bed late evening and especially we want you to enjoy it so much so as to include a mountain bike on your shopping list if you did not buy it already.

For this, we chose the best possible spot: Pestera and Magura villages. These two are positioned exactly between two of the most beautiful mountains in Romania, Bucegi and Piatra Craiului so your effort will be paid off by having almost all day long this amazing view. But your eyes will linger as well on the beautiful old mountain houses spread around every hilltop that you can see.

Also, the plan is to share with you, in case you do not know already, the tips and tricks of mountain biking.

Do not worry, if do not have your own bike, we can rent it for you just let us know about it.

Day 1

We depart from Bucharest as early as possible, 6.00 preferably, so as to make of the day as much as possible. We expect to arrive there in 3 hours or so.

First, we reach Zarnesti, a small town situated just beneath the spectacular mountain of Piatra Craiului. From there we continue along a 10 km country road up to the Magura village. We spot a place to leave the car(s) and, after preparing ourselves, we start biking. The view is magnificent and we will have it all day long. Our intention is to cross the Magura village and reach Pestera village.

This is where we leave our bikes and pay a visit to the known cave. We must, because the Romanian name of the village means exactly this – the Cave.

The point of a mountain bike tour is not necessarily to make a sport event out of it but to cover long distances while making sport as well as enjoying the landscape. This is exactly what we will do. You may want to stop often to look at the amazing views as well as to the beautiful old mountain houses which are framed by the surrounding mountains. This is where rural landscape blends most with the natural landscape.

We end the mountain biking session when you feel like ending it or there is no more daylight to see the road ahead of us.

On the way back we will stop for a fully deserved dinner. We estimate to arrive in Bucharest by 22.00, depending on the traffic.
